It begins in Kekaha, on the West Side of Kauaʻi, where the red dirt of Makaweli meets the salt spray of the Kaulakahi Channel and the silhouette of Niʻihau, the Forbiden Island. This landscape has taught generations of my ʻohana that if you want something to last, you build it with the purest intention and the deepest respect for the aina (land).
